RUECKERT ADVERTISING WINS EMPIRE AWARD FROM PUBLIC RELATIONS SOCIETY OF AMERICA
An integrated public relations campaign executed by Rueckert Advertising & Public Relations LLC on behalf of the 2007 Freihofer's Run for Women won top honors in the Public Relations Society of America's inaugural "Empire Awards," a contest honoring outstanding achievement in the practice and support of public relations in the Capital Region.

The agency earned more than 30 million impressions from 258 pre- and post-event stories for the 29th edition of the Run for Women, one of the world's largest and most prestigious all-female 5 km road races. The estimated value of the print, electronic and Web coverage was $1.8 million, a substantial return on the event's $15,000 PR investment, and a 218% increase over the previous year's media coverage ($564,657).

The largest portion of the coverage came from local TV stations, which aired 110 stories. Significant regional exposure was also obtained by securing race footage on the YES Network's "Running" show, which reaches 10.3 million households in the tri-state area.

In addition to placing stories in 83 daily and weekly newspapers, articles about the Run for Women appeared in print and online in publications around the world such as Athletics Weekly (United Kingdom), Athletics Australia, The Age (Australia), Sydney Herald Sun (Australia), Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), RunningStats.com, Germanroadraces.com, Canadianrunner.com and IAAF.com.

This is not the first time the agency's work on the legendary road race has been recognized. In 2005, Rueckert Advertising earned a gold award in the MarCom International Creative Awards, a global competition for marketing and communication professionals. In 2004, the agency was a finalist in American Marketing Association's (Capital Region Chapter) "Mark of Excellence " awards. ZOOM Into Science a Success at Schenectady Museum

MHT, College of Saint Rose & GE Volunteers Wow 475 at ZOOM Into Science at the Schenectady Museum November 8

WMHT, College of Saint Rose, and GE Volunteers wowed a crowd of nearly 500 children and families during ZOOM Into Science, an afternoon of science stations and activity zones inspired by popular PBS kids' television programs, November 8 at the Schenectady Museum & Suits-Bueche Planetarium.

ZOOM Into Science volunteers made science come to life in a series of experiments and activities, such as designing and constructing vehicles powered by wind energy; exploring equilibrium at a nail balancing activity; discovering the Museum's new DNA exhibit, and special DNA activities during this electrifying day of hands-on science.

Letting children see, do, and understand science through these fun activities, WMHT, College of Saint Rose, and GE Volunteers encouraged young people to learn more about science and technology as well as the professionals who use science and technology to solve problems and improve our quality of life.

Founded in 1934, the Schenectady Museum & Suits-Bueche Planetarium is a dynamic destination offering highly-engaging interactives, where science is fun for everyone. The Museum celebrates the region's rich history of innovation and actively promotes its mission: to inspire a sense of wonder about extraordinary scientific and technological developments: past, present, and future. In addition to the Suits-Bueche Planetarium, which has the only GOTO Chronos Star Projector in the entire Northeast, the Museum houses a FETCH! Lab with weekly programs based on the PBS show FETCH!, a Photograph collection with more than 1.6 million prints and negatives; and an archival collection with more than 40,000 objects relating to the history of science and technology. During 2007, the Museum welcomed more than 41,000 visitors, including students, researchers, business leaders, and tourists.

American Red Cross Offers Senior Response Program
The American Red Cross Adirondack Saratoga Chapter invites seniors (60 years and older) to a free Disaster Preparedness Training. Two training sessions will be offered at the Saratoga Public Library on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 from 2:30-4:30 and on Wednesday, November 19th from 10am to 12 noon. Attendees will receive a free Red Cross disaster kit and a carbon monoxide/smoke detector. This program is made possible through a generous grant from the Alfred Z. Soloman Charitable Trust. This is the first in a series of presentations, distribution sites and partnerships that will provide the disaster preparedness programming to this vulnerable population.

The Adirondack Saratoga Chapter of the American Red Cross has received a grant from the Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust in December 2008 to help senior citizens and people with disabilities in Saratoga Springs, Gansevoort and Northumberland to be prepared in the event of a disaster. The program will assist a minimum of 500 elderly and disabled individuals within the targeted areas and provide hands on assistance in disaster preparedness by creating personal emergency plans, assemblage of individual emergency/medical kits, distributing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. This volunteer driven program is now being coordinated with the assistance of many community partners.

The American Red Cross, Adirondack Saratoga Chapter is dedicated to saving lives and helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Led by a volunteer Board of Directors with 270 other volunteers and 11 paid employees, the local Red Cross is supported by community donations and provides services to Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Hamilton and southern Essex Counties. Last year the Red Cross ran 650 aquatic courses and 1048 first aid and CPR courses, collected over 19,000 units of whole blood, helped deliver 203 emergency messages for members of our armed forces, and assisted more than 1,000 neighbors who were affected by local disasters.

The Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust was established to benefit nonprofit scientific, educational and charitable organizations by funding projects and programs in memory of the Trust's founder, Alfred Z. Solomon, a leader in the fashion industry, horse racing enthusiast and philanthropist of Gansevoort NY and New York City. Mr. Solomon died Sept. 4, 2004 at the age of 104, and established and funded the Trust in his Last Will and Testament.

NEARLY 80 CAPITAL REGION WOMEN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ADVANTAGE OF MAMMOGRAPHY OPPORTUNITIES
In partnership with Price Chopper, Bellevue Women's Care Center, and the New York State Department of Health Cancer Services Program, CDPHP® announces that it successfully screened nearly 80 women during an eight-month breast health awareness program culminating during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. This is the third breast health community campaign CDPHP has hosted since 2006.

Utilizing a three-pronged educational campaign, including mobile mammography sites, communication outreach to members and physicians, and an enhanced online directory to assist members with locating facilities that offer mammography services, CDPHP aimed to communicate the message of early detection to women in both urban and rural settings.

"Mammography is still the best tool available for detecting breast cancer early," said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO, CDPHP. "We're pleased to be able to provide this important screening to the diverse women of this region, many of whom are either under- or uninsured."

The campaign results indicate that 76 women were screened and while nearly eight percent showed positive findings on the first screening, additional tests to date have shown no follow-up positive results. While the campaign was intended to raise breast health awareness among CDPHP members, the final screening report found that 50 percent more women enrolled in other area health plans took advantage of the CDPHP screening campaign.

Reaching Out to Urban and Rural Communities

CDPHP designed its mobile mammography campaign to reach women in both urban and rural settings, including areas in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties, while the second half of the campaign focused on rural communities in Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, and Schoharie counties.

Through the New York State Department of Health Cancer Services Program, women without health insurance, or with limited coverage, were eligible for a free breast screening, as well as a clinical breast exam and Pap smear. Women were encouraged to inquire about this opportunity and nearly 15 took advantage of it.

Double H Ranch, people want to donate as they all know this is such a worthwhile cause."
The person that won the 50/50 Raffle which was picked on the evening of the Haunted Hardwood
Sale event, on Thursday, October 30th was Alan Boulant, owner of Solid Surface Craftsmen,
a supplier of Corian and other countertop materials to Curtis Lumber. When he was called
and informed that he won $1,600.00, he said, "donate it all!". An extremely generous gesture!

Padgett Business Services honored by Accounting Today
Padgett Business Services®, today announced that Accounting Today has named Padgett President Roger Harris to its "2008 Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting" list. Padgett has a local office in Clifton Park, NY, owned by Joe & Amy Sangaline, and is a leading provider of financial reporting and tax consulting services to small business owners.

This year's list, entitled "New Frontiers", focuses on the abounding changes in the accounting industry and details how the individuals featured in the Top 100 are impacting and advancing the field. The list includes not only accounting professionals but also government officials and regulators.

"The profession stands poised to cross the threshold into largely unexplored territories, such as the inevitable convergence of U.S. GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards, new technologies, a potential revamp of the Tax Code and dizzying changes in workforce demographics," said Accounting Today editor Bill Carlino. "This year's Top 100 People roster includes many of those who are spearheading the profession's journey into these brave new worlds."

Padgett Business Services® is at the forefront of this journey, educating policy-makers and shaping legislation in Washington. Through the efforts of the Padgett Foundation, Padgett Business Services® is actively participating to ensure that new regulations enhance the accounting profession; Harris recently testified on behalf of Padgett in the IRS hearings on one of the most pressing issues in the accounting industry today - preparer penalty rules.

However, the primary focus of Padgett's work in Washington is to shape legislation so that it benefits America's small business owners. Acting on behalf of Padgett's small business clients throughout North America and associations of tax practitioners, Harris has testified several times on IRS reform and has testified before the Senate Small Business Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee. He has also been featured as an expert panelist on Tax Talk Today, the IRS monthly web-cast.

Accounting Today describes Harris as "a veteran tax policy advisor to the IRS and Congress, his influence and insight are welcomed in Washington as well as on Main Street."

"I appreciate Harris' dedication to raising industry standards, the integrity of the industry is important to Harris as well as everyone within the Padgett family," said local Clifton Park, NY office owner Joe Sangaline. "It's also nice to know that he is influencing policy-makers on behalf of our small business clients; it affects my clients here in the Capital District, as well as all small businesses across the country.

This is not the first time that Padgett Business Services® has appeared on the "Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting" list; Vice Chairman Dan Sautner has also been honored on the list and Accounting Today has recognized Padgett in the past with the following citations: Top 100 Firms, Top 10 Fastest Growing Firms in America (without merger for growth), Merit Award for Achievement in Client Service, Gold Medal Award for Achievement in Client Service.

Not only is Padgett recognized as a leader in the accounting industry, but they are also recognized as a leading international franchisor. Padgett has been ranked as a top franchise by Entrepreneur, Success, and Income Opportunities magazines, and was also ranked in Franchise Business Review's Franchise 50 2008 Franchisee Satisfaction Awards.
