The race, which has been organized by the Catie Hoch Foundation in past years, will be headed by the Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation starting in 2010. Although it will no longer organize the Catiebug race starting next year, the Catie Hoch Foundation will continue its efforts to support cancer research and treatment. Town of Clifton Park Supervisor Phil Barrett today announced Clifton Park's ongoing support of the local Catiebug for a Cure race to benefit childhood cancer research and treatment. The race, which has been organized by the Catie Hoch Foundation in past years, will be headed by the Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation starting in 2010.
"We were pleased to combine Clifton Park's 5K race with the Catiebug race a few years ago and the run has worked out great to rejuvenate our event and also support the Catie Hoch Foundation," Barrett said. "Next year, the race will transition to another top‐rate organization, the Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation. We look forward to working with local non‐profit groups like the Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation and the Catie Hoch Foundation for years to come."
The Catie Hoch Foundation will continue its efforts to support cancer research and treatment. One such program that will continue is the foundation's support of the Giving Tree at Albany Medical Center, which helps bring holiday magic to children with cancer.
"While the Catiebug run is transitioning to the Cammarata family and their foundation in memory of their son, Nick, the Catie Hoch Foundation is looking forward to many more productive years of helping kids with cancer," said Gina Peca, president of the Catie Hoch Foundation. "We hope the community will continue to support the Catie Hoch Foundation as well as the Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation."
"We are honored and thrilled to take on the Catiebug run. The Catie Hoch Foundation supported us financially during Nick's treatment and continues to emotionally support us through our grief," said Janine Cammarata, president of Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation. "Next year, this run will be called ‘The Catiebug Fight to be Healed 5K Run' and will continue to support pediatric cancer patients at Albany Medical Center's Oncology and Hematology Clinic. We plan to continue to hold the event in the fall next year and hope that the community and volunteers will support this fantastic fundraiser for a long time," she said.
Both organizations welcome donations year‐round, with every dollar raised funding childhood cancer treatment and research.
